What Could I Do?

I thought for years what could I do that I may glory God,
To do what ancient prophets did, that I their footsteps trod,
When God awoke my yearning heart, told me just to listen,
To drop all sense of self and sin, see what made Man glisten!

Those prophets were not special! No great gift had they to choose,
But simply opened up their hearts and said, “My life please use.
Not what I am, but what Thou Art , be seen to shine through me.”
What marked them all without a doubt was their humility.

Oh let me see! Thou art my life, and I can nothing do;
But be like those brave prophets were, a mouthpiece, God, for You.
Not what I choose, but what I hear, and then as Love obey,
I only act at Thy command, performing as You say.

John 5:30 (to 🙂
I can of mine own self do nothing:

He Leaped And Walked

A cripple from birth that’s all I am
A poor example of what is man.
I’ve never walked, not ever been whole,
To get to know God my constant goal.
How is it dear friend when life is so scarred,
That seeking the good just seems very hard?

I’m sat where I sit most of the time;
My search for God a mountain to climb.
A crowd develops, – what’s going on?
A man is speaking, to his words they are drawn.
I hear him now, his love reaches out:
He speaks of God with no sense of doubt!

I listen with awe, his words so true,
My heart is ablaze with knowledge new!
He looks at me, his look is divine,
His oneness with God now also mine.
With clarity pure our thoughts both meet.
His voice is loud: “Stand up on thy feet”.

I hear his command as if Truth now revealed
Is saying quite simply, dear man you are healed!
All thoughts of the past are entirely gone,
I recognise now that I too am God’s son!
I leap high in the air, for I have been healed!
I just heard the Truth. I just had to yield!
